What card payments cost

A card fee of 2% + 20p on UK cards. Cash costs nothing. No booking commission.

Your clients pay no fee. On each card, Apple Pay or Google Pay payment — deposits, pay-ahead and the till:

  • a card fee of 2% + 20p on UK cards (a little more on non-UK cards).

It comes off the payment before it reaches your bank and shows on the payment in Stripe. Example: a £50 UK card payment carries a £1.20 card fee — £48.80 lands.

Cash costs nothing. There's no commission on bookings and no fee on new clients — ever.

Klarna and Clearpay

Optional, and they cost more (about 5% + 20p a payment, which by law can't be passed to the client). Switch them on or off under Settings → Payouts → Card fees. Off means card and wallets only.

Salons on the older platform-fee model

A few salons that joined before October 2026 kept a 5% client platform fee instead. For them, SalonX covers card processing in full out of that fee. It can be switched off from Services (and once off, stays off).
